| dougwillard writes: I am looking forward towards this Album and tour. I agree with your ranking of Live in Dublin as the best live Album. It is and should be seen by all!! Bruce?s Management team did a poor job of promoting the Seeger tour in the US. I saw them in VA at the Nissan Pavillion. The concert was fabulous but there was hardly any one in the lawn seats and not all the seats under cover were sold. At the concert we realized kids could have gotten lawn seats for free, but that was not publicized very well. I wouldn?t mind if after his album and tour with the E-Street band he wrote some new material for the Sessions band. |
| kavana writes: I agree with all of the above. I?m thoroughly looking forward to ?Magic? and seeing the band on tour once more, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Seeger experience which I saw twice in Dublin (May 5 and Nov. 19). They were two of the most joyous Bruce performances that I?ve had the pleasure to witness. Like Doug, I?d love to see Bruce write and record his own material with the Sessions Band. But I?ve always had faith in Bruce and ?faith will be rewarded?. That has certainly been the case for me. Roll on Magic and whatever follows |
| klaus writes: I?ve been off the Bruce-internet for a couple of days, so I red it here first. Best blogpost EVER!
I can?t understand why so many fans (mostly in the US?) only loves Bruce when he is with the E Streeters. Okay, you didn?t like The Session Tour? Well I did, but I can understand that a Bruce-fan don?t ?have to? like that tour, since it was very different from classic Bruce. But the Devils and Dust Tour??? How can a Bruce fan not like that tour? For me this was essential core Bruce. That being said I too am looking forward to the new album and tour - a lot. ? oh, and that ?probably? in the last sentence most be the understatement of the year. |
| palelnan writes: I?m moved.
Waiting for a new record is a funny thing, and with a new Bruce album there?s always a pile of theories from the Bruce community. And they are usually wrong. Learning to like his music with ?Born in the USA?, at age 9 in 1984, it was a tremendous disappointment to receive the ?Tunnel of Love? cassette at age 13. But later on I learned to appreciate that record deeply. After that. it?s been the same or reversed. I doesn?t matter if I like the album or not, I seem to change my mind after a year or two anyway. But ?Radio Nowhere? contains within it so much in so many ways - I?m 100 % convinced that I will love this album and continue to love it! I?m alive out there. |
| Jack Roberts writes: Okay, so I have to admit I am already obsessed with this track and have had it repeating on the player for the last hour. It?s a double edged sword, as I am glad to get to hear this early, but it creates this almost painful hunger to hear the rest of the album - NOW.
I get goose bumps in the final verse right after the sax/guitar solo when Bruce sings the lyrics ?mystery train? and Stevie is harmonizing with him, very pronounced, and it reminds me of vintage Steve from his solo albums, most of which I really liked. Speaking of Steve, I think this is Brice?s tip of the hat to Steve?s ?Underground Garage? radio show, and Steve keeping that style of music alive. I also hear Bruce mourning the impending death of terrestrial radio, and longing for those summer nights and that hot radio hit blaring on car radio, the tune ?everyone? was listening to. Today, with satellite and a market fragmentation, it all gets lost in a lot of noise, and I think that?s why this thing is jacked up so high, a wall of noise and sound. Can?t wait to hear the band do this live. ?I just want to hear some rhythm?.? |
| xengineer writes: The song makes me think of riding in the car listening to music at full volume, not worrying about the lyrics, but rather enjoying the ride. I am hopeful the rest of ?Magic? will be ?magic?.
I too am ALIVE OUT THERE ! |
| markyvon2k writes: I don?t understand why bruce needs the e street band to produce a sound like this?
Whats wrong with Steve Jordan and Randy Jackson? If you?re going to make an album with the e street band, why not make an album with the e street band? Why isn?t Stevie producing? and writing horn arrangements for some wonderful funky blue-eyed soul, e.g. tenth avenue freeze-out? Why does it sound like I?m listening to every other band that Brendan O?Brien has produced? YET AGAIN! Yuck, we had enough of this with the Rising. Anybody? Anybody else think the live Further on up the Road done at the end of the reunion tour absolutely blew the album cut out of the water? Brendan O?Brien is a walking travesty. Its a shame that Bruce worked with him again. He should have asked me to produce it for him. |
| palelnan writes: Brendan O?Brien has produced ?The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion? by the Black Crowes, which, in my opinion, is one of the very best rock records around.
Also, markyvon2k, have you heard the album? You KNOW what instruments are used? |

I have been a huge bruce springsteen fan since I was 7 years old and remember my father buying me a copy of Born in the USA on casette. I remember playing it over and over again until I knew all the words and for the past twenty years I have purchased every bruce album and dvd which has been released. Every bruce album released in the past 10 years here in ireland has gone straight in at number 1. To think that us ?the irish fans? have been snubbed having announced he will not be playing in dublin is nauseating. Cheers to you too bruce, and just like you are holding your up fingers at me, I?m now doing the same back at you.

| musicmart1 writes: Well hi from the good old U.K where tickets for the guvnors UK date went on sale at the official ticket office 0900hrs UK time today. Yep I was one of those legitimate Bruce fans , hell I?ve got every album in all sorts of formats, dvd?s and seen the man live so do I rate him , oh yeah the greatest performer ever and the only really relevent rock performer of the last 30 years (well that?s my opinion and I?m entitled - read on) , that phoned for tickets price approx ?57.Well after countless dial attempts finally got through at 0905hrs (pretty good so far) only to then hang on for human contact until 0914 to then be told - sorry all tickets sold ( things not so good now). Well I?d sort of expected not to be lucky but then I thought hang on lets search for other ticket agents and lo & behold brothers & sisters stacks of them from ?160 upwards and then ebay. Well looky there( and here I go from things not being so good to darn right depressing ) wall to wall tickets as far as your google eye can see with a price tag of ?280 a ticket upwards! Now these prices were noted at 30 mins after the box office opened and I?m no mathematician or economist but I reckon thats gotta be one of the highest inflation increases recorded. Well thats the details and the rant. The comment - welcome to the UK the Land of Hopes & Dreams - yeah, right! The message - come back soon Bruce & the gang with some more dates and maybe some control over the the marketing. |
| KSA writes: CiaranMcP, I understand your frustration. I really do. But there are a lot of cities that won?t get any shows this time around. There are cities and countries that have *never* gotten any shows where people are just as big fans as anybody else. Please take comfort in the fact that there will almost without a doubt be a more extensive European tour next summer. |
| Gary Moss writes: With regard to those points on this subject:
Firstly, being a native of Belfast and having had to travel to Dublin for most Bruce concerts until, I think, 1996, I understand how Ciaran feels. Still, given the overall size of the tour I think Bruce will be back for a second leg. And this brings me to the real bug-bear. I now live in Surrey, just south-west of London. And I, like the comments above, had issues with tickets this morning. The reason they are all sold out so quickly is to do with the ticket agent, Ticketmaster. They advertised an internet pre-sale for yesterday on their website, but as I understand (and I might be wrong) that you have to pay a fee for the right to join this list of people who can pre-order tickets. For recent concerts, such as The Police at Twickenham, there was a similar pre-order system. To join, and to buy tickets at ?75 each, there was a ?fee? of around ?50 to join - just for the opportunity to apply for tickets. Now, this is simply a company getting their arm in and exploiting those who really want these tickets. It also benefits those - and I use the word carefully - scumbags who exploit real Bruce fans and sell their tickets on eBay and other sites. These people can buy up to six tickets per credit card. Even I have four credit cards, and if these people continue to make massive profits they can spread their purchases around 4 or 5 cards. This means that they can get 300% on their investment in a matter of days. Think about it, ?100 pofit per ticket, for about 20-24 tickets, within two days. Nice money if you can get it. This is a shameful state of affairs. Part of the problem is that Bruce is so good live, awesomely good. However, why not choose a bigger venue, or a number of nights? Prince is just completing a whole month at the London O2 arena. So maybe Bruce could do a few more nights. I think he will - this is really a tour to kick off the release of the new album. I guess, if all are healthy and well, that a longer tour will follow next year. Despite that, we will still have the same problem. eBay ticket-touts will block-buy tickets and sell them on at a huge mark-up. So, back to square one. This has happened as long as I have been going to see Bruce (Slaine, BITUSA tour) and will happen until the one man responsible, BRUCE HIMSELF, sorts it out. I know someone who paid ?400 for average seats at the Royal Albert Hall in London for the Devils & Dust show. This is outrageous, and is turning me off Bruce, to be honest. While there is nothing like the real deal - seeing Bruce and the band live - its not worth spending shedloads of money to see him. In the real world, that is. How would the characters that inhabit most of Bruce?s songs afford to see their ?Working Class Hero?? ?200 per ticket (roughly $400 per ticket, at the current exchange rate) is silly. Bruce needs to know how his fans are being exploited, and he should say something about it, and then act to sort out the touts. I know that I will have to pay silly money or I won?t see the ?Magic? tour, unless Bruce puts on a second leg of the tour. Hopefully, this will include Dublin and Belfast more than once, and London enough times for all his genuine fans, and not those able to afford rip-off prices on auction sites. For those real fans who got tickets the honest, normal-priced way, good luck, and enjoy the shows! |
| kavana writes: Besides, CiaranMcP, I understand The Point will be closed for renovations during that period. There is no other suitable venue in Ireland that would take the numbers involved. However, you could try Belfast which is an excellent venue - 2 to 3 hours up the M1 with lots of car parking facilities. |

Having an opposing view point, his commentary ruined the 5 shows I saw at the end of the Rising tour at the Meadowlands and Shea Stadium. (I made this comment in an eyewitness account on this site a few years ago) I have not heard any new music after the Rising, probably because of the political stuff, as well as the type of music he was playing (although I do love Nebraska and Tom Joad). I still enjoy his pre-Rising work, and my Springsteen-dominated ipod can attest to that. I am at a cross road with the announcement of his new E Street rock and roll record. Whether or not I ever go to another show will depend upon whether or not he brings politics into his shows.
I don?t understand why an artist would risk losing up to half of his audience over making political statements. People come to see him perform. Conversely, I wouldn?t want to pay to see Rush Limbaugh, and have him sing instead of talk. |

Fantastic show! Bruce made some songs which are over 30 years old sound fresh, while taking new songs and making them sound like classics. Radio Nowhere, Gypsy Biker, Last to Die and Devils Arcade fit nicely in the same setlist as Night, She's the One and Badlands. Last night was classic Bruuuuuce. The E-Street Band is still better than any of the bands starting up today. The band members look older, and they were clearly tired at the end of the show. The show was not a marathon like in the 70's or 80's. But the crowd was on their feet the entire time and it is evident that whatever energy the E-Street band has left, it is givin to the fans with all of thier might. I love Bruce and the E-Street Band. Thank you guys (and gals) for a terrific show last night in Hartford. Rock on Boss!!!! |

| Peter from Scotland writes: Have tried in vain again to see Bruce in Dublin..tickets are going on sale long before gig and the dates tickets go on sale are not well advertised..ticketmaster are terrible for info. Real fans have no chance! |
| JERSEYGIRL4L writes: not so sure about added shows... heard 3 giant stadium shows were the end of his world tour. I am very disapointed in Bruce, he said he would never play large open stadiums again because they were to impersonal. Hmmm. |

| Sheila writes: It is so great that he finally is playing in Omaha (finally no plane ticket)....the closest he's been here is Des Moines, Iowa on the Sessions tour. The tickets went on sale yesterday and he sold out in less than an hour.....a lot of fans (and possibly new fans) have been waiting for him to come here. |
| fortyoneshots writes: I hope Danny has a speedy recovery and the piano sound wont be the same. I am seeing Bruce 04/27/2008 in Charlotte and taking my sixteen year old daughter to see "THE BOSS" for the first time, so get well quick and best wishes. |

| cyn Henderson writes: I love his beautiful voice on this album. I love this song...the sound is so peaceful like a perfect day on the beach. I just can't get enough of Bruce his old or new stuff. He is coming soon (mar.29) to Seattle which I have two great tickets to. I have not seen him live since the Tempe,Az concert when the girls rushed him on stage during "Rosalita". Its been nearly 30 years. I was a kid (16) and so was he. His music has kept me going. And all you fans know what I mean. By the way, I was not one of the girls busting loose to get Bruce close up. They were crazy. |
| Jungle Mack writes: I'm left wondering if this is a compliment or an insult??!! Well now I recon upstaging the grammy's is better than upstaging fans...So to me he is forgiven for not being there. Some of those categories in the grammy's shouldnt even be there! And handing awards to druggies who are high as kites, is in my mind sending a very wrong message. But then thats me, and it aint illegal to give an award to coke sniffers, but to me its just imoral and should be stopped. Amy whitehouse got an award for being brain dead and high, and Bon Jovi have been overlooked so many times it's just not funny..... go figure, maybe Jon should snort a few lines he may even get lucky!!! go figure |
