The crowd was great and well behaved with the exception of this woman with the Exit 105 Sweatshirt. Another has been groupie trying to ruin the fun for everyone else. There was another kook constantly stalking the parking lot for Bruces car. |
| Ann K writes: I would hope Bruce has the sense at this age to realize its time to stop playing the large venues. His voice in Londons calling was tired. He should pick and choose smaller more intimat venues.he doesnt need the money.Bruce I love you but please do not get on stage with the likes of Lady Gaga.Just keep hangin at the shore. |

| Timmy Petersson writes: Actually, "American Babylon" was the best album Bruce worked on in the 90's. With "Ruble Doll" coming in second. Gee, that really _was_ a bad decade for his own music...
Wish I could be there, I love Grusheckys work, and I've always wanted to see him live. |
| Ed Chonko writes: American Babylon is an awesome album. I used "Labor of Love" as my wedding song. I met Joe at the Stone Pony after his show and told him about it. He was nice enough to mail me the chords so my wedding band could learn the song. Great guy. |

Of the firste show I could not remember much, was so sleepy, but the second time I made notes of the titles played, so that I can at least remember it afterwards! It is the very first direct programme about Bruce that I listen to - it is an amazing feeling. Well worth the lack of sleep! He always plays a few unknown songs also. Last week he had a woman on the show who as a student attendend the same college as he, and not only met Bruce (I think it was just as Born in the USA was going big) in the Stone Pony, but also got a lift with him back to her dorm.

Coincidently my daughters is also named Francesca and i will always remember her riding on my shoulders leaving a Bruce concert in Birmingham England, i had never seen her so excited. |
| jamie writes: Going to the show I was skeptical. How much Bruce would we see? We saw plenty. The venue was very small (built around 1901). An intimate setting for such an iconic figure. From my seat, I could see Kevin, Bruces' guitar tech, plain as day off stage. He pick up the acoustic guitar and the lights went off, I knew an acoustic set was coming. Bruce walks out and says "I guess I'm opening for the House Rockers", and laughed. He seemed to really enjoy himself, very loose. High lights for me were of course Bruce's songs. But Joe had plenty as well. Loved "Pumpin Iron". Just a fantastic old fashioned rock-n-roll bar type show........with a legendary superstar. Why was I worried?? |
| john driscoll writes: back in the 80s I belonged to a springsteen fanclub in the UK and one thing they did was a poll of "favourites". The best tour poll was topped by a long way by the darkness tour. The amazing thing was that bruce never toured in the UK with darkness. Such was the reputation of the tour. When the live 75 85 disc came out I was really dissapointed there was no sad eyes version of Backstreets (the roxy cut was edited) and most of all the long version of prove it all night was missing. Since then my dream has been to own a dvd of that tour so I hope there has been no editing of the houston show. The outtakes I have heard so far sound amazing although on first hearing I prefer the piano led "the promise" from the new york city cd.
the paramount concert sound really interesting......bruce live with no audience! we shall see |

| Bill Lane writes: This was really great. Bruce has relaxed and allowed himself to have fun. Who would have thought this would happen?
It makes for an interesting thought though... What if Bruce were to try and do say a Born To Run era concert NOW in style and dress? Critics would say it is a "jump the shark" but still I would like to see it! |

| Tommy Beck Kobberoe writes: If you buy the CD/DVD box set at Amazon.co.uk you get the NTSC version of the DVD's. It plays OK on my DVD player, as other NTSC discs does, but the sound quality of the Documentary (I haven't had time to see the rest yet) is pretty bad. Have others the same problems? |
| JH writes: What's intersting is that he's still so fit, making him look younger today. But the beard back then made him look significantly older.
So the net is that he could pull it off and hardly miss a beat. He'd have a much harder time, for instance, doing a paraody of the Darkness or River tours where he was really thin and kind of boyish looking. I doubt this was unique, I suspect other artists have parodied themselves a bit. But it is very unique - and adds a really weird entry to the "brucebase" |
| BB writes: One other artistst that did do a parody of himself was Paul McCartney. If you check out his video for the song "Coming Up", he plays a number of different band members and one of them is Beatle Paul. |

| Sharon Forrest writes: I found FINDING GRACE IN THE CONCERT HALL fascinating reading. I like some of Springsteen's music, but I would not call myself a fan so I found it very interesting that his fans have such a bond that they've created their own society, more or less. As for it being a religion, yeah, I'd probably debate that but the way Linda describes the Springsteen community it more than likely is just that to many of the participants.
Job well done, Ms. Randall. |
| Froddy writes: I just checked out amazon.co.uk and the label releasing the main point has at least one other interesting relase out so they might actually own rights to release it. | gpjmoss writes: The re-release of The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town documentary is another in a recent line of cynical releases by Bruce, following the Wal-Mart Greatest Hits, the price of the Darkness Box Set, the different versions of the Seeger Sessions album ("American Land" version...please) and the general response to Record Store Day with a series of 7 and 10-inch singles that automatically fetch a fortune on eBay and similar sites. This latest rip-off will be bought by die-hards and we will feel 20 minutes of footage is worth it. Is it? Or is this release related to the apparent lack of success of the Darkness Box Set? I hope not, because I'd love to see box sets of the next four studio albums that are of the same quality but half the price.
Long gone are the days of releases being few and far between... |

I went into the men's room before the first show and I heard voices above me. there was a drop ceiling and a group of guys hid out in the rafters of the bathroom all night to sneak into the second show. gotta love it. |

Good catch on Endless Night with Graham Parker -- my two favorite artists together, courtesy of Jimmy Iovine. Graham Parker and the Rumour was one of the great live acts of all-time and actually share another Asbury Park connection, having headlined a legendary tour in which Southside and the Jukes were the opening act. There was a review by a British critic who said it was the greatest rock and roll show he had ever seen. 1977 maybe? |
