March 21 1985

Bruce and the band perform their first show in Australia. The show is the first of eight shows Down Under. This is also the place where he receives the first bad press of the tour when Australian journalists write about being pushed away by Bruce's bodyguards during the band's arrival in the airport.

March 31 1985

The show in Brisbane, Australia, is the band's first real outdoor stadium show.

April 4-22 1985

The band heads to Tokyo for their first shows in "The Land of the Rising Sun". They play eight shows there.

October 18 1989

Bruce calls each member of the E Street Band and tells them he will be working with other musicians for his next album and that they should feel free to pursue other projects. In reality this message is considered a breakup of the band.

January 9 1995

A greatest hits compilation will be released instead of Bruce's unfinished 1994 album, and after a quick decision Bruce calls in the E Street Band, including Little Steven, to work on some bonus tracks. The band enters the Hit Factory in New York on this date, which is the first time they are in the same room recording since 1984. The session is filmed and footage will later be released on the Blood Brothers video.

September 2 1995

The E Street Band is once again briefly reunited for the opening concert of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame museum in Cleveland. Despite strong rumors of a tour in support of Greatest Hits, this is the last time the band is together until 1999.

December 7 1998

On the first stop of a European press tour, Bruce reveals that plans are in the works for an E Street Band reunion tour.

December 8 1998

A press release announcing the E Street Band tour is released.

March 18-19 1999

Bruce and the E Street Band perform two rehearsal shows at the Convention Hall in Asbury Park. These are the first public admission shows they do as the headliner since 1988. Bruce calls the shows "the rebirth of the E Street Band".

April 9 1999

The tour begins for real in Barcelona, Spain, in the first official E Street Band show since 1988.
