One of the last remaining historical music landmarks in Asbury Park is scheduled to be gutted for condos in January, 2006. Incredibly, 35 years after the demise, the 2nd and 3rd floors of 700 Cookman Avenue still have all the original artwork and stage, etc. In the late Sixties and very early Seventies Springsteen spent hundreds of hours jamming at the Upstage and met several of his later associates there, including Steve Van Zandt.
