After the intensive media blitz in the days prior to its release, it would almost have been a surprise if The Rising hadn't become Bruce's only second album to debut at the number one spot on Billboard's chart. The same was the case in several European countries, including the UK and Germany. It kept the top position on Billboard's chart for two weeks, but has now been referred to a third-place by Eminem and Nellyville.
