Panda named after Bruce song

The second giant panda cub born at the San Diego Zoo has been given the name Mei Sheng, which translates into "Born in the USA." Mei Sheng (pronounced May-Shun) was officially named Tuesday, 119 days after his birth. The name can also mean "Beautiful Life".

"On an international scale, this is now the second giant panda who will forever be linked to the United States. Mei Sheng serves as a symbol of continued advancement for giant panda conservation and research," said Don Lindburg, Ph.D., giant panda team leader at the San Diego Zoo.
