July 16: Last night Bruce and the band came, saw, and conquered. In a 3-hour power show in front of an ecstatic home-crowd, they blew the roof off the Continental Airlines Arena and, as they have been doing all over Europe, proved that there is still no better rock 'n' roll act in the world than Bruce and the E Street Band in its strongest lineup. The 26 song set was pretty standard, but did feature the tour premiere of "Freehold" in an acoustic version. Bruce introduced it by thanking the Freehold city council for not embarrassing him by putting up a statue of him. According to rumors, the soundcheck featured "Rosalita" so a good bet would be that it turns up before the NJ stand is over. The whole show could be followed live on NJ Online's homepage.
