Jon Landau Management released the following statement today:
Bruce Springsteen Planning Worldwide Tour with The E Street Band to Begin Summer
1999 Jon Landau Management has confirmed that Bruce Springsteen intends to begin a
worldwide tour with The E Street Band in the summer of 1999.The concerts will mark the
first time since 1988-89's "Human Rights Now! Amnesty International Tour" that
Springsteen and The E Street Band have embarked on a major series of performances. All
additional details will be announced after the first of the year.
Earlier in the day in an interview for a German radio station, Bruce made a semi-official
announcement of a tour.
Bruce reached Berlin today on his brief European promotion stint and was interviewed by
Radio Eins. To the obligatory question of the prospects of an E Street Band reunion tour,
Bruce said the following:
"We've been talking about it and I've spoken with the guys pretty recently, and
I think part pf putting [Tracks] together was a nice sort of reconnection for
everybody. And, hopefully, I'm gonna have a good announcement for my fans
pretty soon. You know, we're still working on it, and those people that have to
iron out -- you know, everybody's got their own lives now and different jobs,
and so people in the process are sort of trying iron those things out. But,
hopefully, very soon I'll be able to announce something that makes fans happy."
This is as close to an official announcement we can get. Don't think for a second that this
statement wasn't planned and well thought-out. All that is left now is to wait for the real
announcement, which could come any day now and certainly before Christmas.
