First night in Somerville with world premiere
Published 2003-02-20
The first benefit show for Doubletake magazine in Somerville saw Bruce adding new dimensions to his acoustic side as he entertained the crowd with no less than 28 songs, new and old. He even took the opportunity to premiere a song co-written with Joe Grushecky: "The Wall", which was inspired by a visit to the Vietnam memorial in Washington DC. Also such rarities as "Stolen Car", "Souls of the Departed", "My Father's House" and some Tom Joad tour revisits made their way into the set, just as a few Rising songs made their acoustic debuts.
