Bruce rock 'n' folked with Dropkick Murphys
It was a public secret for days before it happened: Bruce Springsteen was going to show up at the last of three Dropkick Murphys shows at the House of Blues in Boston. And much to the delight of the crowd, he sure did. Just a few days after making one of his traditional appearances at the somewhat more sedated Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame induction show in New York, Bruce joined the Irish American celtic punk band for three songs: "Peg O' My Heart", his own "Badlands" and "I’m Shipping Up to Boston". It was ten minutes of up-tempo Irish punk folk attack that could be described as something like the Seeger Sessions Band on speed and with electric instruments. Bruce obviously has gotten a weak spot for the Dropkick Murphys. Just a couple of weeks ago, their new album, Going Out in Style, saw the light of day including Bruce appearing on "Peg O' My Heart". Check out a video of Bruce's entire performance.
