Bruce receives humanitarian award
Published 2000-12-05
Sunday Bruce Springsteen received a humanitarian award from a local New Jersey chapter of the National Association For the Advancement of Colored People, NAACP. The award was presented to him at a ceremony in Middletown, NJ, and in his acceptance speech, Bruce said that "humanitarian" was too big a word for what he did. Last summer's "American Skin" controversy probably had a lot to do with the NAACP picking Springsteen for the award.
