Bruce played two nights at the Pony

Published 2002-04-15
A few weeks ago we reported that Bruce had offered to do a benefit show at the Stone Pony last night. We never got any confirmation on whether or not it would happen, but sure enough: this last weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Bruce, backed by Bobby Bandiera's band, played an entire show of about two and a half hours for an invited audience benefitting the Rumson Country Day School. Apart from Bobby Bandiera, Patti Scialfa and Southside Johnny joined at various stages. There has been confusion surrounding exactly what songs were played, but Backstreets seems to have figured it out. In return we have a big image of Bruce's handwritten setlist from the first night. Many of the songs have never been done by Bruce in public before. The Detroit Medley had its first appearance since 1988. "Darlington County" still included the World Trade Center line. Other than that details are very sketchy. None of the fans who gathered outside were let in as this was a very exclusive event.
