Even though he wasn't nominated in any category, Bruce with the E Street Band played at last night's MTV Video Music Awards. They opened the show with an energetic version of "The Rising" performed from an outdoor stage set up at the American Museum of Natural History whereas the rest of the awards show was broadcast from the Radio City Music Hall. Why Bruce didn't use the same stage as everybody else is not known to us, but it did give him the opportunity to offer the gathered fans a little extra when he proceeded to play a mini-concert after the cameras were turned off.
