15-year-old campaigns to get Tillie on a stamp
Published 2004-08-28
Campaigning for the Tillie face on Palace Amusement in Asbury Park did not end when the popular face was saved from demolition when the rest of the building was torn down. Amanda Hayden, a 15-year-old schoolgirl from New Jersey is now trying to have the face decorate a postal stamp. She has started a non-profit group and a website dedicated to have the image of Tillie immortalized on a stamp and thereby save a little bit of Americana. You can read about the campaign and sign the petition at www.tilliestamp.org.
