It was almost like it was 1982 again. Bruce performed not once, not twice, but three times in one day. First he did his own solo acoustic set at the the Clearwater Festival in Asbury Park, just four blocks from the Stone Pony, including the following songs: "Does this Bus Stop", "Bobby Jean", "This Hard Land", "Blinded By the Light", "My City of Ruins" and "Land of Hope and Dreams". (Read more about this appearance and the festival on Asbury Park Press' site.) Then just a few hours later he showed up at the Stone Pony and got on stage with his E Street pal Nils Lofgren during the encores of his outdoor show. The two traded vocals on "If I Should Fall Behind", and Bruce also helped out on "It's All Over Now", "Shine Silently" and "Boom Boom" (pictures on Grace's photo pages). After that, most of the lucky people at the Stone Pony probably thought they couldn't squeeze anymore out of that night, but they were wrong. After Nils Lofgren finished his set, it was time for John Eddie to continue the party inside the Pony. That happened with Bruce as a very enthusiastic attendee for most of the set until he couldn't resist anylonger and joined his old buddy for "Suspicious Minds". While Bruce has been quite active performing on the shore this summer compared to recent years, this was his most busy day in the public's eyes since the Christmas shows in December, and for the first time in Bruce history, fans all over the world could watch his appearance with John Eddie via a live webcam connection on the Stone Pony's site. Nah, probably not, but that's what an Australian radio station wanted you to believe last Tuesday when they presented the rumored lineup for a Greg Norman celebrity golfing tournament in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Among the contesters would be Sting, Bono and yes, Bruce Springsteen, who allegedly has a handicap of 6. Well, stranger things have happened, but we don't really believe this. Read more

The same Swedish newspaper that recently reported that a new E Street Band studio album was due out on October 22 is now backpedaling on their own story. According to their issue from August 9, it's now just a single of "American Skin" that is scheduled for release on October 22, and they can't say anything about an album except that they believe it will be out before Christmas. The October release of the "American Skin" single is not news per se. It has been listed as such on various European Sony sites for a while. It probably doesn't mean much. Read more

It's not official yet, but we hear that it's true: the live DVD is finished and ready to be released. It will include 25 songs: the HBO special followed by 11 bonus tracks (see the track list). "Blood Brothers" is not included as a bonus song, but part of it is featured in some supplemental documentary footage, where allegedly it works extremely well. Altogether, it looks like fans have something to look forward to. In an article in the August issue of MIX, it says that the DVD will feature full surround sound 5.1 mixed by Bob Clearmountain. The article also quotes Clearmountain as saying that a total of 37 songs were mixed and considered for the release. When the actual release will be, is still not known by us, but an official announcement is probably imminent. Read more

...Bruce Hornsby, that is. On Tuesday evening the real Bruce, joined Hornsby on stage in Red Bank, NJ, for a final encore of "Cadillac Ranch". According to those present, our guy messed up the words pretty badly, but nevermind that. Good to see him performing again. And unlike what we reported yesterday, this was not the first time the two shared a stage. It also happened on September 3, 1999, in Washington DC. Read more
