Forget about CAA shows - Giants Stadium it is

Things can change quickly. Not too long ago on this page we declared that the idea of doing stadium shows in the US had been scrapped and that we would see multiple dates at the Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey. Now those plans have been scrapped, and instead three shows at Giants Stadium have been officially announced. Whether this means that other cities will see stadium shows as well rather than the tentative arena shows, has yet to be seen, but it's probably quite likely. The Giants Stadium shows will take place on July 15, 17 and 18, and tickets will go on sale on March 1. Read more

Second Somerville show marred by stupid questions

Published 2003-02-22
By Karsten S. Andersen
Just like the first night, Bruce took some time to answer questions from the audience during the second Somerville benefit show two days ago. But questions such as "what underwear do you wear?" and "Will you write a song with the name Alison in it?" made Bruce shorten the question time compared to the first night and state that he wouldn't do anything like that again. Other than that, the show was mostly a repeat of the first night's setlist, but with the most notable changes being "Blinded by the Light" replacing "Does This Bus Stop" and "For You" replacing "If I Should Fall Behind". LuckyTown Digest closed for now

After a long hiatus the LuckyTown Digest is now no longer. The list owner, Kevin Kinder, has decided to end the digest, but doesn't rule out a comeback. The LuckyTown Digest is one of the oldest Springsteen fora on the Internet dating back to the early Nineties. A few years ago Bruce manager Jon Landau posted a greeting to the subscribers, which was the first and only time so far that anyone of officially linked to Springsteen's camp has posted on a Springsteen fan forum. The LuckyTown Digest will be sorely missed. Read more

The first benefit show for Doubletake magazine in Somerville saw Bruce adding new dimensions to his acoustic side as he entertained the crowd with no less than 28 songs, new and old. He even took the opportunity to premiere a song co-written with Joe Grushecky: "The Wall", which was inspired by a visit to the Vietnam memorial in Washington DC. Also such rarities as "Stolen Car", "Souls of the Departed", "My Father's House" and some Tom Joad tour revisits made their way into the set, just as a few Rising songs made their acoustic debuts. By Karsten S. Andersen
According to the Sunday Mail in Scotland, Bruce Springsteen has agreed to front the Clash at the upcoming Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on March 10 where the famous British punk band is slated to be inducted. The band's lead singer, Joe Strummer, died recently, and according the newspaper Bruce will replace him if only for that one occassion. Cross your fingers that this is true, but the fact that Bruce is playing in Providence that same evening speaks against it, although shows have been rescheduled before. Read more

Two solo benefits are better than one

We reported a few days ago that Bruce and Patti were scheduled to do a benefit show for Doubletake Magazine in Somerville, MA. It now turns out there will be two shows, and if that wasn't enough, the tickets will only cost $100-500 rather than the $1000-5000 that was first announced. The Boston Herald reported a few days ago that Bruce went ballistic when he learned about the ticket prices and threatened to back out. If that's true he obviously managed to change the minds of the organizers. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, February 5 at 11 AM through Ticketmaster. Read more

Bruce caravan to be "egged"

Published 2003-02-04

A furious Canadian fan is planning to give Bruce's tour trucks a warm welcome when they drive through Winnipeg in April. Armed with eggs he and as many disgruntled fans as he can muster, will position themselves on the tour caravan's route and express their frustration with the fact that Bruce has yet to perform in the city. A show was planned for Winnipeg, but the plans were scrapped for logistic reasons. Read NME's article. Stop press! The fan has since denied that any egging will take place. He was just goofing!
