In what appears to be a preview article to the new Top 200 album list, Billboard mentions that Bruce's Live in New York City debuts at #5. This is not even the the highest debut of the week. Bruce wins court case

It's been established before, but now even Masquerade Records should understand it: Bruce's early demos belong to Bruce. This final decision was made by London's Court of Appeal which thereby refused Masquerade Records claim to owne the copyrights of an album's worth of songs recorded by Bruce in the early Seventies. UK fans treated with lots of Bruce TV

Fans in the UK can look forward to not only the HBO show, but also a new Bruce special. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it looks like the HBO show may be aired on April 28 on Channel 4. No word on whether it will be the complete show as shown on HBO or just part of it. On April 25 or May 2, Top of the Pop will feature a 45 minute Bruce special including new interview footage where Bruce will, among other things, talk about his music videos. Read more

Next album will be E Street

In an interview with Associated Press, Bruce confirmed that his plan is to record an album with the E Street Band before anything else: "It's not going to be our usual amount of time to make a record -- we don't have the time to waste anymore," he added. Bruce signed the new album in Red Bank

Customers at Jack's record store in Red Bank, NJ, probably thought they were dreaming when last night around midnight, without any kind of announcement, Bruce Springsteen suddenly appeared in the store and started to sign the new album. He stayed for more than an hour chatting with the fans and signing autographs for everyone. He left around 1:30 a.m. thanking his fans for their support for him and his band. Read more
   

Live album already available in several countries

2-3 days before the official release date, Live in New York City was already available in several European countries. In several cases employees in stores in Germany, Italy, Holland, England and probably elsewhere ignored the April 2 release date and were handing the album over the desk to anyone who asked. Reactions from fans who heard the album have so far been extremely positive. Read more
   

Bruce in court again

It seems to be the case that will never die. Since 1994 a CD worth of songs recorded by Bruce from 1972-74 have been the subject of several court cases. This time London-based Masquerade Records have appealed the decision made 1998 when they were banned from releasing the CD. Bruce himself has not appeared at the court yet, and it is unknown whether he will. The case is expected to be settled next week. You can read more here. Read more
   

Bruce talks about "American Skin" with Hilburn

In his first printed interview since Tracks, Bruce for the first time gave his version of what happened last summer when "American Skin" became the subject of a big controversy with the New York police. Bruce claims to have been caught off guard by the strong reactions, especially since none of the critics had even heard the song. In this very exciting interview he also talks about the breakup and reunion of the E Street Band and his feelings about the election of George W. Bush. Read more
