Rumors are circulating that U2's lead singer Bono will be the one to induct Bruce
into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Bono is not the most obvious choice, but he and
the rest of U2 have been known to be fans of Springsteen. They have attended
several of his shows, and in 1987 they let Bruce perform with them in Philadelphia
for a version of "Stand By Me". Speaking of the Hall of Fame ceremony, the E
Streeters will most likely back up their boss for a performance. Read more

As we reported on this spot yesterday (if a bit late... sorry) Bruce did indeed show
up on Conan O'Brien last night and sang "Working on the Highway" with the Max
Weinberg Seven. The show was Max's last before he heads back to New Jersey
with his old boss to rehearse for the tour. Bruce was allegedly in a great mood,
sounded good and looked fit. Read more

It's been a while since it was first reported that "Sad Eyes" would be released as a
single. As you all know, nothing has happened so far, but now rumors are starting to
circulate again about three different singles. One is the above-mentioned "Sad
Eyes" single, which allegedly will be released along with "I Wanna Be Where the
Bands Are" on two different discs on March 22. From Norway we're hearing that "I
Wanna Be With You" will be released as a single on March 8 followed by the
highlights album from Tracks on March 29. All in all, everything is still confusion. Read more

In a rather surprising move (to us, anyway) Bruce has, according to Backstreets,
not only decided to include "The Promise" on the Tracks compilation disc, but
actually rerecorded the song two weeks ago. It's surprising because it's such an old
song (it was first performed live in 1976) and perhaps more important, the emotions
in the song are so far detached from the Bruce we know today that a rerecording
may seem awkward. Bruce's decision is no doubt based on the pressure he's been
put under after leaving it off Tracks, and since he has said in interviews that he
didn't have a good studio take of it, he has had no other choice but to cut a new
version. This decision will no doubt cause a wild debate among fans, especially if the
new version turns out inferior to the haunting live versions of the Seventies.
Backstreets also reports that both "The Fever" and "Trouble River" will be on the
new album. "The Fever" should be known to everybody who's reading this, whereas
"Trouble River" is a Human Touch outtake with some wild guitar. It's perhaps the
most rocking song Bruce did during the Human Touch sessions.
There's still no exact word on when 18 Tracks will be released, but it will probably
be in the final days of March or the middle of April. Here's the complete track
listing courtesy of Backstreets:
1. Growin' Up
2. Seaside Bar Song
3. Rendezvous
4. Hearts of Stone
5. Where the Bands Are
6. Loose Ends
7. I Wanna Be With You
8. Born in the USA
9. My Love Will Not Let You Down
10. Lion's Den
11. Pink Cadillac
12. Janey Don't You Lose Heart
13. Sad Eyes
14. Part Man, Part Monkey
15. Trouble River (4/6/90) (418)
16. Brothers Under the Bridge
17. The Fever (5/16/73) (754)
18. The Promise (2/12/99) (448) Read more

Anyone out there from the St. Louis area? Well, look forward to August. A source
tells us that Bruce has approached the St. Louis Cardinals about attending a home
game on a day off from the tour. A good guess would be that there will be a show in
St. Louis around that time, too. Read more

The long-planned remastered versions of Bruce's back catalogue have been
cancelled. Allegedly Bruce wasn't satisfied with the sound and has nixed the whole
project for the time being. Read more

So far there hasn't been much talk of shows in Holland, but now we're hearing
rumors that he may do at least one gig at the Arena in Amsterdam in the last week
of May or the first week of June. The Arena holds 40-51,000 people and has a
retractable roof. Read more

It should come as no surprise that Bruce intends to perform in Philadelphia during
the upcoming tour, but we are hearing rumors that it will be at the Core States
Center (now First Union Center) where, according to rumors he will be doing six
shows. No word on when. People in that area should also look forward to at least six
shows at the Continental Arena, formerly Brendan Byrne Arena. Read more

The name Earls Court Arena in London has been popping up a lot in the last couple
of weeks in connection with possible Bruce shows. Total Entertainment, a UK ticket
broker, even tells us that the shows will happen from May 17-22. Moving across
the Channel to France, radio there has said that Bruce is preparing to do a show in
the City of Cities in June this year. Altogether, we're hearing more and more
indications that the Euro tour will stretch well into June. The first part during April
and May will probably be indoors followed by a stadium tour in June, perhaps July.
Still, this is only speculations and rumors. Read more
