According to the Bottom Line's own website, the club has hosted its last show. Last year it became clear that the legendary club was in serious financial trouble. Support statements from Bruce Springsteen, among others, apparently did not help, so a few days ago the owners posted this announcement. The Bottom Line is known to most Springsteen fans on account of a legendary run of shows Bruce did there in August 1975. One of the shows was broadcast live on the radio and attended by numerous music critics who afterwards helped boost Bruce's career with their ecstatic reviews. Read more

According to the Associated Press, Senator John Edwards' favorite album at the moment is The Essential Bruce Springsteen. John Edwards came in 2nd at the first primary in Iowa and still has a good chance of winning the race. As it should be known to the readers of this page by now, Bruce lent his vocals and guitar to a couple of tracks on the late Warren Zevon's last album. A video has also been released on the Internet where Bruce can be seen in the studio with Zevon recording "Disorder in the House". Now that footage and some previously unreleased interview footage with Bruce will be released on a DVD documenting the recording sessions. The DVD will be ready for release in March. Read more

No, we don't know what Bruce gave his kids for Christmas, but judging from his income this year, they'd better be good! The Rising Tour grossed about 150 million Dollars, which in history of rock'n'roll has only been surpassed by the Rolling Stones in 1994. The second giant panda cub born at the San Diego Zoo has been given the name Mei Sheng, which translates into "Born in the USA." Mei Sheng (pronounced May-Shun) was officially named Tuesday, 119 days after his birth. The name can also mean "Beautiful Life".
"On an international scale, this is now the second giant panda who will forever be linked to the United States. Mei Sheng serves as a symbol of continued advancement for giant panda conservation and research," said Don Lindburg, Ph.D., giant panda team leader at the San Diego Zoo. Read more

Hardly a year goes by without Bruce's name on the list of Grammy nominees. Even this year when he hasn't released any new music, he can be found on the ballot. The category, however, is new: Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal. We are talking about his duet with Warren Zevon on the song "Disorder in the House", which appeared on the now deceased singer's last album, The Wind. Outside the snow was coming down relentlessly preventing many fans with hard-earned tickets to get to the show in time... if at all. But inside Bruce & The Max Weinberg 7 warmed up the Convention Hall with a 3-hour show which, as usual, featured a host of guest performers plus a few rarities from Bruce himself, including the live world premiere of the recently released Born in the USA outtake "None But the Brave". The guest performers consisted of, among others, young rocker Jesse Malin, the legendary Sam Moore, and Southside Johnny. Read the complete setlist and more details here.  One of the founders of the Asbury Park music scene, Billy Chinnock, is back with a brand new album and a show at the Stone Pony. Billy Chinnock goes back to the mid-Sixties and served as a virtual nursery for future E Streeters. Thus, both Danny Federici, Garry Tallent and E Street alumnis David Sancious and Vini Lopez were in Chinnock's band before anyone had even heard of Bruce. After not having released a studio album since 1992, Chinnock is now back with a new album called Livin' In The Promised Land, and on December 6 he can be seen and heard at the Stone Pony with his band.
