Good news for Asbury Park and Bruce fans all over the world. Legendary club the Stone Pony has been sold to two New York City cats and "Butch", one of the two original owners, will be in charge. At the same time it looks like a $750,000,000 redevelopment plan for Asbury Park could become reality this year, not least thanks to the Save Tillie Campaign. A good start to 2000 indeed! Read more

You can't blame the Grammy committee for being predictable. "The Promise" from 18 Tracks has been nominated for "Best Male Rock Vocal" and "Best Rock Song". This choice is even weirder than last year's nomination of "Thunder Road" from Plugged. Among the contestors in the former caterogy are Chris Cornell, Lenny Kravitz, and Tom Waits, and in the latter Melissa Etheridge and Tom Petty. Read more

As expected Bruce chose to spent New Years Eve at home at his own New Years party. In return Southside Johnny made sure 1999 didn't go down quietly at the Jersey Shore when he performed at the Resort. The show was filmed for unknown purposes, but if it's ever released you will also be able to see the appearances of Bobby Bandiera and Mike Rocket, the latter who had to be chased offstage by nasty security people. Rumors of US cities that will be blessed with an appearance by Bruce and the band are swirling. According to some rumors the tour will start as early as next month, and some of the cities mentioned are Hartford, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, Seattle, Portland, and Denver. Among the more curious rumors is that of a show in Charlestown, West Virginia. Read more

In an interview with Robert Hilburn in Los Angeles Times, Steve Van Zandt revealed no specific plans to record a new album with Bruce and the E Streeters, but he did say that the reunion was "too good to just walk away". We did it! After having struggled to avoid the last spot a few days ago with his version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town", Bruce carried the victory in Danish radio's Christmas song vote. He beat Wham's "Last Christmas" by a safe margin and thus became the winner of the "Best Christmas Song in the Universe" contest. The victory was not least due to the combined efforts of Bruce fans all over the world who took the time to vote. See the results here. Read more

Rumors of a March release of a new double album are swirling on Greasy Lake's own discussion forum, The Circuit. The rumors, which appear to come from different sources, say that the album will be called Glory Days Revisited or Thunder Road Revisited and that one disc will be new material while the other will be live recordings from the 1999 tour. Make of it what you think, but as usual with these kinds of rumors, don't hold your breath. Read more
