Bruce official participant in Red Bank benefit

Until now it has only been speculation, but today New Jersey Online reports that Bruce will be part of the lineup for the October 18 and 19 benefit shows at Count Basie Theater in Red Bank. The shows, which will benefit the World Trade Center victims and were organized by Garry Tallent among others, will additionally feature Jon Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, Phoebe Snow and not least Scotty More and D.J. Telethon CD to be released soon

Several sources are reporting that a CD culled from the recent Telethon show can be expected to hit the streets in a matter of weeks. Some sources believe that it will be the entire show (perhaps excluding the spoken interludes), but nothing is official yet, and we don't know if Springsteen's contribution, "My City of Ruins" will make it, although we would be very surprised if it didn't. Bruce to appear at benefit concert?

Bruce Springsteen has been invited to perform at an upcoming concert at Madison Square Garden benefitting the victims of the September 11 terror attack. The event, which is being organized by Paul McCartney, has already been dubbed Live Aid 2 and will take place on October 20. Many of the biggest stars have been invited to join the lineup, but nothing is official yet, and no date for the ticket sale has yet been announced. Read more
   

"My City of Ruins" highlight of Telethon

Bruce opened last night's big tribute show to the victims and heroes of the terror attack shown on all national American TV networks with his unreleased song "My City of Ruins". The song, which was originally written as a comment to Asbury Park's sad destiny, featured the E Street Band and additional backup singers. Since its debut last December at the Christmas shows in Asbury Park, some of the lines had been changed to better reflect the tragic occassion. In the coming days the show will be broadcast in numerous countries all over the world, and there is already talk of releasing an album with the performances, but this has not been confirmed. The day before the tragedy in the US, Bruce's publishing firm Shorefire Media issued a press release announcing the release of Live in New York City on DVD on November 6. Bruce to appear at benefit show

Yesterday it was announced that all the major US television networks have gone together and organized a huge benefit TV show for the victims of last week's tragedy. Among the many stars who will perform, Bruce Springsteen will be there and add his voice to the cause. The show is called "America - a Tribute to Heroes" and will be aired on ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC this Friday, September 21, at 9 pm to 11 pm EST. Read more
   

Bruce's music used in tributes

Local New York branch of NBC has used Bruce's version of "We Shall Overcome" in a beautiful tribute to the rescue workers and the American spirit after the terror attacks. DVD set for November release

According to information on various online Springsteen forums, the Live in New York City double DVD is now scheduled to be released on November 6. A press release is expected this next week. The contents is the same as reported a few weeks ago with 11 extra tracks compared to the HBO version plus a short "New York City Serenade" documentary and a photo gallery. Read more
   

Another guest appearance by Bruce

Monday night Bruce again jumped on someone else's stage to help out on a few tunes. This time the event took place at Donovan's Reef in Sea Bright where Brian Kirk and the Jirks invited both Bruce and Patti to join them. Together they did "Rosalita", "Tenth Avenue", "Mustang Sally" and "Jersey Girl". The Jirks allegedly often play Bruce songs, so they had no problem with the two old war horses. Bruce however had trouble remembering the words to "Rosalita". Read more
   

Bruce joined the Big Man

This is fast becoming Bruce's most active club-hopping summer since 1989. It has only been two weeks since he performed three times in just one day in Asbury Park, but last night he was at it again as he joined Clarence Clemons for four songs during one of the latter's shows at the outdoors Stone Pony venue this weekend. The songs performed were "Pink Cadillac", "Raise Your Hand", "Mustang Sally" and "Glory Days". Speculations have already started as to whether Bruce will show up again for one of the Big Man's shows today, Sunday, which like yesterday's shows are being recorded and will be used for an upcoming live album.
