A source who wishes to remain anonymous has informed us that plans are in the works for 1-4 benefit shows either at Madison Square Garden or at the Meadowlands. We can't say anything about the reliability of this piece of information, but if we're lucky we may not have seen the end of the tour after all, but as always, do not get your hopes up. It does sound a bit far-fetched. Read more

Tour end means changes to Greasy Lake

Published 2000-07-08

The tour is over, but Greasy Lake continues. There may not be any new setlists to check out for a while, but that doesn't mean there is not plenty of things to check out on Greasy Lake. First of all, it is with great pride that we announce the opening of a new section: UPSTAGE. The section is dedicated to the stories of Jersey Shore native David J. Mieras who witnessed the rise of the Asbury Park music scene and was among the founders of the famous UPSTAGE club. Needless to say, he knew Bruce. The first of his stories tells about how the club came to be. Another big change is right here on Flamingo Lane where the Tour and the TV/radio sections disappear. That is, all the tour info we collected can of course still be found on Greasy Lake, but it moves to the Magic in the Night section. As for the TV & Radio section, we will continue to provide you with as much info as possible on this page below, but you will have to help us out by submitting any info you may have. The two sections will be replaced by a section with commentary from the Greasy Lake staff on what goes on in the Bruce world. The first column is about the big just ended Reunion Tour. Read more

What will the future bring?

Published 2000-07-08

The rumors are already circulating about what and when Bruce's next move will be. Some believe to know that there will be some sort of announcement as early as August. Whether it's a tour, album or perhaps movie announcement remains to be seen. Others have picked up a rumor that Bruce told someone at a 4th of July party that he would start touring again early next year depending on Patti. As for album plans, Little Steven has denied that there is already an album more or less in the can as was reported by Backstreets a couple of weeks ago. So far the only thing that seems relatively certain is that there will in fact be a movie from the Garden shows, but in what shape it will be is still a well-kept secret. One suggestion is that it will be a DVD-release only, so time to save up for one of those. Finally, go check out VH1's take on the issue. Read more

The last dance

Published 2000-07-02
By Karsten S. Andersen
It was not a six-hour marathon with everything the fans wanted to hear, but with 28 songs it was the longest of the tour, and it did contain some solid surprises that fans have been dying to hear. First of all "Lost in the Flood", not played since it's one-off performance on the Darkness Tour, Sept. 1, 1978. And as the closer, "Blood Brothers", a song which could have been an anthem on the tour. Apart from that both "E Street Shuffle" and "The Promise made reappearances. From a setlist point-of-view it may not be what fans had hoped for, and the first reports indicate that Bruce's voice seemed tired and that the energy wasn't at the same level as at other shows at the Garden. But perhaps it was not the energy. Others believe it was the circumstances of the show being the last on the tour which made Bruce go into a more subdued and reflective mood. Whatever the case, perhaps the most important thing was Bruce's words, according to some sources, before singing "Land of Hope and Dreams": "When we started playing this song it was about the rebirth of the band and rededication to serve the audience. I hope we have done that in the past year and we'll continue to do so." And at the end of "Blood Brothers" he added: "We'll see you real soon". While there's nothing definitive in the statement, at least he didn't say it was the last show with the E Street Band ever. Read more
