Fireworks hailing over Taj Mahal Casino

If you live in or near Atlantic City, you should venture down to the boardwalk one of the next few evenings between 9 and 11 PM. As part of its Light of Freedom event, the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort is hosting a show of fireworks set to the music of Bruce Springsteen. Allegedly, the climax of each show is the projection, into the seaside sky of "the world's largest American flag" accompanied by "Born in the USA". Our guess is that it's not the solo acoustic version of the song. The show will run every night until August 2. Read more
   

Patti celebrates her 50th birthday

E Street Band backup singer and Bruce Springsteen's wife, Patti Scialfa, turns 50 today! She joined the E Street Band in 1984. In 1988 she and Bruce hooked up, and two years later they had their first of three babies. In 1991 the couple married. Patti is also an artist in her own right and released her first solo album in 1993. Rumors suggest that a new album can be expected from her in the fall. Happy Birthday, Patti!!! Read more
   

Old Bruce guitar up for auction

A guitar owned and played by Bruce in the early Seventies can be purchased at Christie's Auctions in New York on Friday, July 25. Opening bit is $35,000. The current owner bought the guitar from Bruce in 1973 for $270 when Bruce himself got a new one. So if you have a few extra Dollars to spare, here's your chance to own a pretty unique artifact. California shows official

The rumors were true! Today Shorefire Media announced two shows in California. San Francisco gets a show at Pacific Bell Park on August 16 and the next day Bruce and the band will be in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium. According to the press release these will be the only shows on the West Coast, so if you live in Seattle or the South West, now is the time to act. Tickets for both shows will go on sale Monday July 28 at 10 A.M. through Ticketmaster. The show in San Francisco will be Bruce's first show there since the famous Winterland shows in 1978. Strong rumors of LA show

At this point nothing is official and it may just be a rumor, but a few sources have indicated that Los Angeles may get a show after all. According to the rumor, the show will take place on August 17 at Dodger Stadium. An official announcement could be expected today. There is also talk of a show in San Francisco at Pac Bell Park as the most likely candidate for a venue. So to all you fans out West, there's still hope. More news when we get it. Read more
   

Bruce nominated for three Emmy awards

The CBS special that was aired in America in February has received three nominations for the upcoming Emmy Awards. The categories are 1) Outstanding Directing For A Variety, Music Or Comedy Program, 2) Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special, and 3) Outstanding Variety, Music Or Comedy Special. The CBS special featured several songs from Bruce's Barcelona show last October. The awards will be held on September 21 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Read more
   

Giants Stadium stand well under way

The eagerly awaited shows at Giants Stadium are well under way. Three shows into the stand Bruce and the band have continued the trend from Europe with plenty of setlist changes and extremely high-energy encore sets. As usual in Bruce's home state, thousands of fans gather in the parking lot before the show for hours of tailgate partying. Both the local and national news media have also paid attention with lots of coverage. New Jersey Online have even set-up a Bruce-O-Meter where fans can rate each show. Reviews of the show have so far been positive (surprise!), so all in all this is shaping up to be another unforgettable Springsteen summer in New Jersey. Read more

Little Steven says E Street Band is here to stay

In a new interview with Billboard Little Steven calls the E Street Band "absolutely an ongoing concern". "From here on in, it will be new stuff, and we're in the active band cycle of album-tour-album-tour," he says and adds: "I hope forever," While there's no way to be sure about anything when it comes to Bruce, this should be good news for all fans of the E Street Band. European tour ends on high note

After 24 shows and almost two months Bruce and the band wrapped up the European tour last night in Milan. And they did it in style. For the first time since 1985 Rosie came out in Europe and brought the tour to a close with a bang. Altogether, the last couple of weeks have seen Bruce doing some of his most spectacular shows ever, not least his two shows in Gothenburg that both ended with "Twist and Shout" and already have legendary status among those who were there. Bruce and the band now return to the States where they will begin what will probably be the home-stretch of the tour, and if Europe is any indication, fans in America are in for something extraordinary.
