While the official announcement of the upcoming "election tour" isn't expected until Wednesday of this week, the cities that will be included seems to have become known. According to the information, which comes from a usually reliable source, the tour will kick off on October 1 in Philadelphia. Then in the following week and a half it moves on to Cleveland, Ann Arbor, St. Paul, Orlando, and Miami where it ends on October 10. At least, that's what it looks like now. No word on arenas or dates for other than Philly and Miami. Read more

As most of you will have guessed, Bruce did not show up at the Democratic Convention in Boston last night to close the event, as was rumored. But Bruce's music was still present as John Kerry entered the stage to the sound of "No Surrender". Whether this was sanctioned by Bruce is not known, but one would think he was asked first. Rumors are flying high in Boston that none other than Bruce Springsteen will close the Democratic Party Convention with a performance. The rumor is strong enough to have been mentioned in today's Boston Herald. We would categorize it as "highly unlikely", but these days you just never know. The fact is that Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry has used Bruce's music during his campaign. As late as yesterday, "No Surrender" was played when Kerry entered Boston. Read more

According to the Los Angeles Times a tour in October featuring a number of major acts, including Bruce Springsteen, is all but certain. The newspaper has received confirmation from several different sources that a tour is indeed going to take place. Apart from Bruce the artists will include Neil Young, REM, Pearl Jam, and possibly Bob Dylan. The article goes on to mention that it will probably be more of an anti-Brush tour than first expected. Bruce's live version of Warren Zevon's "My Ride's Here" is planned to be included on an upcoming tribute album to the deceased singer. The song was recorded on September 10, 2003, in Toronto shortly after Zevon's passing. Other contributors to the album will be Jackson Browne, The Pixies, and Ry Cooder. After months of complete hibernation, Bruce finally took the stage again last night at the Stone Pony. On the bill was Joe Grushecky & the Houserockers. Bruce joined halfway through the main set along with Patti and ripped it up for a couple of hours with his old friend. Apart from a bunch of Grushecky standards, the set included "Code of Silence", "Johnny 99" and "Murder Incorporated" to close. Before jumping on stage Bruce was at the bar signing autographs and hanging out with Sean Penn. Read more

According to Backstreets, the Plugged video is finally going to come out on DVD this fall. It's the only one of Bruce's official home videos that has yet to be released in that format, although it exists as a now discontinued laser disc. That laser disc contained an extra song compared to the VHS released, "Roll of the Dice", but so far no word on whether the DVD will include that song or any other extra material. Read more

Rumors are running wild that Bruce and the E Street Band are planning a six-week "Rock the Vote" mini-tour starting on September 1. The tour will allegedly not be pro or con any of the presidential candidates, but more an attempt to raise awareness and make people vote. According to the rumors, the tour will concentrate on swing states with focus on not least Florida, California, North Carolina, the Rust Belt, and at least one show in New Jersey. Shows are said to be indoors. Bruce's official camp is denying that Bruce has any plans of doing anything in connection with the election. Time will tell. Read more
