This must be one of the strangest cover songs we have come across: a double album made up entirely of classic songs performed the way Elvis would have done it, has seen the light of day. And right there on disc 2, you will find a wonderful cover of Bruce's "Pink Cadillac" sung by a very convincing Elvis impersonator. Buy the album or listen to a snippets of it on www.myelvis.com. A few weeks ago we reported that Bruce had offered to do a benefit show at the Stone Pony last night. We never got any confirmation on whether or not it would happen, but sure enough: this last weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Bruce, backed by Bobby Bandiera's band, played an entire show of about two and a half hours for an invited audience benefitting the Rumson Country Day School. Apart from Bobby Bandiera, Patti Scialfa and Southside Johnny joined at various stages. There has been confusion surrounding exactly what songs were played, but Backstreets seems to have figured it out. In return we have a big image of Bruce's handwritten setlist from the first night. Many of the songs have never been done by Bruce in public before. The Detroit Medley had its first appearance since 1988. "Darlington County" still included the World Trade Center line. Other than that details are very sketchy. None of the fans who gathered outside were let in as this was a very exclusive event. Read more

82-year old rock critic Jane Scott of the Plain Dealer has retired after 50 years of service for the Cleveland newspaper. In an article about this unusual old lady, it says that, "Jane hung out with the Beatles, went car-shopping with Jimi Hendrix, partied with The Who and the Beach Boys, had a beer with the Doors, had lunch with Michael Jackson, sat on Lou Reed's lap, got a couple of smooches from Bob Dylan and befriended everyone from Bruce Springsteen to U2's Bono." Hopefully Jane will still be around and rocking when Bruce's next album is released. Read more
