According to the Backstreets website, Bruce may already have an album in the can ready for a fall release. They quote a good course as saying that most of the songs are written and recorded and that they only need overdubs by the E Street Band. Among the songs on this alleged album are of course the three songs premiered in the last few shows. Read Backstreets' article to get the full story. Read more

No tour premieres or world premieres graced last night's show at the Garden, but all three new songs were repeated. This time "Code of Silence" followed right after "American Skin" while "Further..." took the opening slot. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was the return of "Meeting Across the River" plus the fact that neither "The River" nor "Point Blank" were played. See the setlist and the grade and the first eyewitness account. Read more

As the "American Skin" controversy is dying down in the media, the distribution of the song on the web is speeding up. Several news sites have published excerpts of a bootleg recording in RealAudio, and of course, on the Napster mp3 network it has been available for days. There you can even find an unauthorized dub version, "American Skin (Uncensored Version Atlanta)" where the words "41 shots" have been replaced with "kill the fucking cops". And no, this is not Bruce singing. Read more

For the first of his ten shows at Madison Square Garden, Bruce answered his critics by not only playing "American Skin" again followed by a powerful "Promised Land", but also debuting a new rocker which may be called "Code of Silence". The new song was co-written by Joe Grushecky and was a rocking tune. According to the information we have so far, Bruce did not mention the controversey with one word, but instead let the music do the talking. Bruce also repeated the performance of "Further On Up the Road", this time as the first encore. Other rarities included "Dancing in the Dark". See the complete setlist, the eyewitness accounts, and how we graded the show. Read more

After 15 months of concerts in Europe and North America the big E Street Band reunion tour is about to end. Unless more shows are added in Australia and the far East as has been rumored, the ten shows at Madison Square Garden in New York will be the big homerun. These concerts will probably also be the ones with most media attention, not least in the light of the "American Skin" controversy. For the rest of this month the world's eyes will be on Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. People have travelled from all over the world for these shows, and the expectations are huge. More than 100 different songs have been played over the course of the tour, many of which are expected to show up at the Garden shows for one last airing, and new tour premieres or even world premieres will probably also take place. Read more about how Greasy Lake will cover the shows. Read more

Earlier we quoted a rumor that Bruce and the band would take the stage of the new Stone Pony on July 4. Now rumors are circulating that it will be a series of shows there in September and October. We can't emphasize enough that this is not only unlikely, it is extremely unlikely, and you should not try to investigate this by contacting the club. Read more

In his live chat with fans last night on the J&R site, Little Steven wouldn't reveal which surprises the band would pull out for the Garden shows, because as he put it, "then they wouldn't be surprises". In return he made a very strong point of assuring people that the E Street Band reunion is indeed permanent. Read more

The current media turbulence in connection with "American Skin" prompts us to come forward and express our wholehearted support of Bruce and his right to sing whatever he pleases. Patrick Lynch's and other people's ridiculous overreaction to and misinterpretation of a song they haven't even heard should never have caused this kind of uproar. If the American media spent half as much energy trying to figure out what causes tragic incidents like the one which cost Diallo his life, America and the world would be a better place. Bruce Springsteen is one of the few artists with enough guts to address these issues in a sober way. So thank him, don't slam him! Read more
