No shows in New Zealand

A story in New Zealand's paper The Evening Post last week said that plans to bring Springsteen to New Zealand were thwarted by the low New Zealand Dollar compared with the US dollar. The story went on to mention that this had also created problems for Elton John, but it also inferred that Elton's Australian visit was still all go and everything is pointing to him being the artist for whom the Australian Football League had put their football game off for and not Springsteen as we have previously speculated. The live DVD is dead

It should be definite. The planned DVD from the Madison Square Garden shows will not be released. Not now, not next year, not ever. If this is true, and unfortunately, it seems to be, it will be one of the biggest disappointments in Bruce history. Read more
   

Live DVD put on hold?

According to Backstreets and other sources, the live DVD from the New York shows seems to have been put on hold for now. At least, it appears more and more certain that it will not be released this year as expected. Whether this is just a small delay or if the project has been scrapped altogether is not known, but the latter would seem very strange considering all the effort that has been put into it by not least Bruce himself. One theory, which is entirely at Greasy Lake's own expense, is that Bruce wants to release songs like "American Skin", "Code of Silence" and "Further On Up the Road" on a studio album before a live album and that a studio album will therefore be the next step. Australian tour indication

On our constant search for signs that Bruce and the band will be touring Downunder next year, we have been provided with the following info from one of our readers: The Australian Football Leage has announced that 2 games on the weekend of the 23rd Feb 2001 have been moved from their new roofed stadium due to a recent booking by a big performer. Of course, no word on who the big performer is, but you never know. Read more

Famous charity act revisited

One day in September 1990, Bruce rode into Prescott, AZ, on his motorcycle. He went to a bar to dust off his throat and ended up playing "Pink Cadillac" and "I'm on Fire" with the house band. But not only that, after having been told by one of the band members that bar owner, Brenda "Bubbles" Phillips, was suffering from cancer and had some huge medical bills, Bruce sent her a check for $160,000. This incident happened ten years ago, and online music column Pause & Play marks the occassion by talking with Brenda "Bubbles" and recounting the story once again. Read more

Bruce played at Rum Runners

Better late than never. According to some sources Bruce performed at the Rum Runners in Sea Bright, NJ, on September 9. The occassion was a private party to celebrate his mother's 75th birthday. The whole band was there and together they did a selection of old summer hits. Read more
