Human Rights Now! Tour

1988, The E Street Band

Bruce volunteers himself and the E Street Band to participate in a tour organized by Amnesty International. The tour marks the 40th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights by the UN. Bruce is part of a lineup that also consists of Tracy Chapman, Youssour N'dour, Peter Gabriel, and Sting. Most nights sees Bruce close the show with 1½ hours of uptempo songs that leave crowds all over the world in a rock 'n' roll frenzy. This tour marks the first time (and in many cases only time) Bruce plays in Africa, Eastern Europe, India, and South America. As the tour progresses, he starts to collaborate with some of the many other musicians in the huge entourage, most notably dueting with Sting on his hit "Every Breath You Take" and in return letting Sting duet with him on "The River".
