Born to Run Tour

1975-76, The E Street Band

Although the Born to Run album wouldn't be released for another month and a half, the official tour to support the album started on July 20. The setlists to begin with were similar to those of the spring tour with a slowed down version of "Incident" leading things off and with little focus on the still unreleased album. But by the time the band did their breaktthrough 10-show stand at the Bottom Line in New York, the Born to Run songs were in the spotlight in a two-hour power-house show that would end with a tour de force of rock 'n' roll classics such as "Twist and Shout", "Quarter to Three" and "Carol". The tour also brought Bruce and the band overseas for the first time for shows in London, Amsterdam and Stockholm. The first part of the tour ended on New Years Eve in Philadelphia, but by March of 1976 it was resumed for what has become known as "The Chicken Scratch Tour" due to the inclusion of several obscure Southern cities.
